Great to meet you!
I've been practicing in the mental health field for more than 4 years now. I am trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and love using it with many different clients. I've found that DBT has also helped me on a personal level.

I actually do a lot of therapeutic silence! I'm not one to talk the whole session and I prefer letting clients lead me where they feel it's most important to focus. I'm more relaxed and humorous, especially when I've met with a client more than a few times. Mindfulness is a big founational part of the work I do with clients and I try to bring that into sessions and reinforce it whenever possible. Everyone and everything in the world moves so fast, so therapy sessions can be a great place to take it slow and be mindful.
In the first session I briefly introduce myself and I like hearing about any previous therapy experiences. I definitely would want to pull from positive experiences clients have had with others and avoid any retraumatization or trying something again that's already been done and written off. I also like to make mental notes of scheduling conflicts that clients have, their general availability, and anything important coming up that is to be anticipated.
