Great to meet you!

My area of expertise is in working with children, teens, adults and families who are experiencing a variety of difficulties, including anxieties and emotional regulation. My background and training are in family systems therapy, disabilities and special education services, and cognitive-behavioral therapy. For over 20 years I worked in the public school setting, both as a special education provider and as a school counselor. I am also certified to provide CBIT for Tourette’s and Tic Disorders.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy with adults is solution-oriented and cognitively based. Therapy is focused on your goals and how to help you achieve them in the present. We will not spend a lot of time in the past or the future. Change happens in the present moment.

My approach to individual therapy with children and teens is generally geared toward the family as a whole within a family systems framework. Sessions may include a mixture of both individual and family members.

What you can expect from me

Therapy should not take years to be effective, and my goal is to help my clients start feeling better quickly. My approach is collaborative and directed. Meaning, we will talk about whatever is on your mind AND I will always bring a "next step" for your therapy progress. Homework is likely to be assigned between sessions in order to help keep you on the path towards your goals.
