Great to meet you!

I am a therapist specializing in individual, couples and family therapy, and maintain a private practice in Southfield, Michigan. Jimmy offer in person as well as virtual appointments.

I received my Bachelor’s in Education from Wayne State University, Detroit Michigan and his Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. My concentration in my master’s program was interpersonal, specializing in children, youth and families. I was also a part of a specialized program titled “Detroit Clinical Scholars”. This specialized program was a federally funded training program designed to prepare graduates with skills to deliver quality behavioral health services to underserved racial and ethnic minority children in integrated healthcare settings. Furthermore, I was part of the Parenting In Context Research Group. This research group was a community-based intervention that focused on the role of fathers in promoting family and child well-being.

My approach to therapy

I use a Person Centered-Strengths based approach when treating clients. Jimmy believes that all clients have strengths and qualities, and they’re experts in their own life. I use evidence-based practices and developmentally appropriate interventions when treating individuals. I have worked in school , juvenile justice, abuse and neglect, psychiatric hospitals and community mental health settings. My diversified professional background has allowed him to interface comfortably with a plethora of cultures and races. My diversified background has also allowed him the experience to treat and care for individuals with many different mental health disorders; including but not limited Mood, Anxiety, Neurodevelopment, Substance Abuse, Trauma-related, and Impulse Control Disorders.

What you can expect from me

I believe therapy provides a uniquely powerful context for personal and relational growth. Working as a collaborative team we can address life’s challenges and pursue the healthy changes important to you. I aim to provide a high quality, scientific and down to earth approach that frees you to approach life with new hope and focus.

My athletic background and consistent work I conduct in the community for many years has aided him in having a diversified background helping and interfacing with others. I played three years of college football before his career was concluded due to injuries. I am also one of the leaders of a summer youth program titled “Camp of Dreams”. Camp of Dreams is a free summer basketball league that places an emphasis on building character and creating positive experiences. Overtime, I have developed the capacity to understand athletes on a personal level that are experiencing mental health challenges.
