Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who earned my Master of Social Work from Boise State University in 2018. My background includes working with adults experiencing anxiety, mood disorders, personality disorders, substance use concerns, low self-esteem, shame, guilt, relationship difficulties, and major life transitions. Earlier in my career, I also worked with veterans, individuals experiencing homelessness, and spent three years in a men’s correctional setting supporting people with complex mental health needs.

I opened my private practice in 2022, and over the past year my work has increasingly focused on maternal mental health. I especially enjoy supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum, motherhood, anxiety, identity shifts, relationship changes, and the emotional demands of caring for others while staying connected to themselves.

I also work with couples navigating communication problems, conflict, disconnection, and changing family roles. I particularly enjoy helping couples prepare during pregnancy for the postpartum period by discussing expectations, division of responsibilities, emotional support, intimacy, and the transition to life with a new baby.

My approach is warm, practical, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I tailor treatment to each client or couple and want therapy to provide both meaningful insight and useful tools for everyday life.

For clients who want faith to be part of therapy, I am comfortable incorporating a faith-based perspective. I am especially familiar with Christianity and can integrate Christian values, beliefs, and Scripture when desired.

I am also married, a mother of two with another baby on the way, and bring personal understanding of many of the transitions I support clients through.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is eclectic, collaborative, and tailored to the needs of each client or couple. I draw from different therapeutic styles depending on what is most helpful, rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. Some clients benefit from practical tools, resources, and homework between sessions, while others need space for reflection, processing, and talk therapy. We can adjust the approach together based on what feels most useful to you.

With individuals, I often support clients with anxiety, stress, life transitions, self-esteem, shame and guilt, relationship concerns, pregnancy, postpartum, and the adjustment to parenthood. My goal is to help you better understand patterns, build practical coping strategies, and feel more confident navigating difficult seasons.

With couples, I integrate an attachment-based perspective and Gottman-informed tools while working to understand and balance both partners’ experiences. I view couples therapy as a team process and work with couples at many stages of marriage. Recently, much of my couples work has focused on the prenatal and postpartum transition, including communication, conflict, emotional connection, changing roles, boundaries, expectations, and adjusting to life as a growing family.

I aim to create a warm, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment where you can be honest about what is happening while also working toward meaningful change. When desired, I can also incorporate a faith-based perspective, particularly Christian values and beliefs, into the therapeutic process.

What you can expect from me

The first session begins before we meet. You will receive a welcome message and intake paperwork through my SimplePractice client portal, and it is important that this is completed before your first appointment. The paperwork gives me helpful background information and also reviews important informed-consent information, including what to expect from therapy, privacy and confidentiality, practice policies, communication, and other details you should understand before treatment begins.

During the first session, we will complete a biopsychosocial assessment required for insurance. This helps me understand your current concerns, mental health history, relationships, family background, strengths, supports, stressors, and other factors that may be affecting your well-being.

I aim to make the assessment feel conversational, warm, and nonjudgmental rather than like a checklist. You are welcome to ask questions and share at your own pace while we work through the information needed.

If time allows, we will also begin discussing your treatment goals and creating a treatment plan together. If more time is needed, we will complete the treatment plan during the second session. My goal is for you to leave the first appointment feeling heard, understood, and clear about what our work together will look like.
