Great to meet you!

I'm John Murphy, a licensed clinical mental health counselor with 17 years of experience helping children, teens, and their often overwhelmed parents. My background includes work in various behavior treatment programs, which has made me an expert in understanding and addressing intense behaviors. Most of these behaviors stem from trauma, and I’m skilled at empowering parents to help their children heal. I look forward to working with you.

My approach to therapy

I get to know my clients from a holistic, or whole-life perspective. I’m like a detective who views your life like a tapestry, and sees the places where things went wrong. And then I collaborate with you to fix them.

What you can expect from me

After sessions with me, you’ll leave with skills for re-training your brain to interpret things more realistically and factually, rather than emotionally and subjectively. You’ll know how to distinguish impression from truth.
