Great to meet you!

I received my Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from California Baptist University and have been practicing psychotherapy in a variety of settings including foster care, public health clinics, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) clinics, group homes, HIV clinics, primary care clinics and private practice for the past 20 years.

My approach to therapy

I don't like to look at the therapy process through the lens of mental health disorders. In life we all have struggles that we face, sometimes within our control and sometimes outside of our control, which can lead to anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, etc. Along with our struggles we also all have strengths, and drawing from those strengths can give us the insight and plan to better understand how to work through and learn from those struggles. Being aware of your past and your patterns helps you to be more mindful of how you operate in the present and how your present choices also shape your future.

What you can expect from me

My goal in our first session together is for you to find a place where you can feel at ease in explaining what is bringing you to therapy and also feel some hope and direction for the steps ahead. I understand life is a journey and most of the time the path is not a straight one. It is my desire to come alongside you and work with you to help point your compass back in the direction you want to go.
