Great to meet you!

I have a world class education, but there is more to me than that: There have been many iterations of "Alan" over the long years of my life. There is the drug addict that has walked the clean and sober path for 33 years. There is the truck driver and the tattoo artist, the husband (married 31 years), the father, the grandfather, the great grandfather, the foster father, the step-father. There is the Buddhist and the philosopher. I am reaching out to you. There is nothing you can tell me that will offend me.

And I can write a darned good introduction too! LOL!

I hope to meet you soon!

My approach to therapy

We will begin by taking treatment approaches from standard, evidence based methods, mindfulness, person centered, emotionally focused, CBT, DBT but moreover I will treat you as a unique human being. I am not concerned with proving my favorite method works.

Together, we will look at your thoughts, actions and feelings, as they come together to both create and solve the problems that have come your way.

With couples, I am solution-focused and you will find that your relationship is my client. I want to MORE than welcome the LGBTQ community as well as Trans, non-binary and polyamorous communities.

I have found that couples, families and individuals have enjoyed and benefited from the time we have spent together in therapy.

What you can expect from me

Usually I will begin with, "Well, why don't you just jump in here and tell me what brings you to therapy."

I understand that this may be the most difficult moment in the entire process for you.

It's alright.

Just the tiniest bit of trust. That's all it takes. You can tell me what's going on and then...and then... and then we're off an running.

If I you're feeling anxious I will say something like:

"It's just you and me, just two people talking." And that's really all it is, just two people talking.

Come talk with me.
