Great to meet you!

I’m Julie Kinder, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with adults navigating trauma, difficult relationships, identity, and major life transitions. My approach is warm, conversational, trauma-informed, and LGBTQ+ affirming, with a focus on creating a space where you don’t have to edit who you are. I incorporate EMDR and other evidence-based approaches while tailoring therapy to what you need, not a one-size-fits-all formula. Together, we’ll make sense of what has shaped you, identify what is no longer serving you, and work toward a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, conversational, and collaborative, but I’m also an active therapist. I’ll listen, ask questions, help you recognize patterns, and gently challenge you when it may help you move forward. My work is trauma-informed and identity affirming, with a focus on trauma, relationships, identity, self-worth, and major life transitions. I incorporate EMDR and other evidence-based approaches based on your individual needs and goals, because I believe therapy should fit the person, not the other way around.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is about getting to know you, not trying to unpack your entire life in 50 minutes. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what feels most important right now, and what you hope might be different as a result of our work together. I’ll ask questions to better understand your experiences, strengths, relationships, and needs, while giving you space to share at a pace that feels comfortable. By the end of the session, my goal is for you to have a sense of what working together will look like and, most importantly, to feel that you’ve found a place where you can be yourself.
