Great to meet you!

You've gotten through things most people never have to face — and somehow that's made it

harder, not easier, to ask for help. Maybe you're carrying anger that flares before you can stop

it. Maybe your closest relationships keep hitting the same walls. Maybe there's grief, or

trauma, or a version of yourself you've been trying to get back to for a long time. Whatever

brought you here, you don't have to explain yourself from the beginning or justify why it

matters. It matters. And you deserve a space where the work is real — and you deserve a life that is not just surviving. You deserve to live a meaningful, authentic life where you are thriving!

I'm Justine Muyu, LCPC — a Maryland-licensed clinical supervisor with 15 years of experience

and advanced training from Johns Hopkins and Salve Regina. I draw from ACT, Gottman

Method, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed practice to work with the whole

person, not just the presenting problem. No templates. No scripts. Just honest, skilled work.

I offer virtual therapy across Maryland and accept Aetna, Cigna, Ascension, and Carelon

Behavioral Health. New client openings are available now. Reach out today — let's find out if

we're a good fit and start building a plan that's actually made for you.

My approach to therapy

Therapy works best when it's honest and when it's built for the specific person sitting across

from me — not for a diagnosis, not for a protocol. I pull from ACT (Acceptance and Commitment

Therapy), Gottman Method for couples, Motivational Interviewing, Psychodynamic work, and

trauma-informed frameworks like Seeking Safety, depending on what your situation actually

calls for.

I'm solution-oriented without being naively positive. I don't pretend difficulty is a mindset

problem, and I don't think healing is linear. What I do believe is that most people already have

more capacity than they've been given credit for — and that the right therapeutic relationship

brings that capacity forward rather than substituting for it.

If you're working through trauma, relationship conflict, anger that's gotten out of control, grief,

substance use, or a season of life that's stopped making sense — I can meet you where you are. I work with the whole picture: what you're feeling, what you're avoiding, what your body is telling you, and where you want to go.

What you can expect from me

The first session is a real conversation — not an intake form read aloud. We'll spend some time

on your history and what's brought you to therapy right now, and I'll ask targeted questions to

get a clearer picture of where you're starting from. I may use a brief clinical screener or two, not

to label you, but to make sure we're not missing anything important.

Then we'll talk about what you're hoping for. Not vaguely — specifically. What would be different

if this worked? What have you already tried? What's gotten in the way? That's the foundation we

build on together.

You should leave the first session feeling like you were actually heard — and like there's a real

path forward, not just a plan to "check in next week and see." I take first sessions seriously

because first sessions set the tone for everything that follows.
