Great to meet you!

I knew I wanted to be a psychologist since the age of 14. I had always been a curious girl and loved figuring out problems and solving puzzles. When a friend’s sister, who was majoring in psychology, told me what that was and what a psychologist did, I knew that it was the right profession for me. I could help others and use those skills that seemed to come naturally to me. I achieved my BA in psychology at Boston University, an MEd in Counseling and School Psychology at Worcester State College and my PhD in Counseling Psychology at the University of Georgia. I've worked with a wide variety of populations. As a School Psychologist I worked with children in the school environment. During my doctoral work I specialized in Couples and Family Therapy having a particular interest in Family Systems Therapy. Once I received my doctoral degree, I worked at the community mental health center in Rockland, Maine, where I developed The Marriage and Family Clinic, training pre-doctoral students from all over the country in the Family Systems approach.

A bit about my approach to therapy

Now, in private practice in Maine, I see individuals, couples and families with a variety of problems such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder and relationship issues. I've also been to several nursing homes in the area doing psychotherapy with elderly and disabled individuals. Additionally I was instrumental in developing the Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Team where medical and emergency workers had a place to join in a group to discuss and be debriefed of the trauma they might have experienced while aiding someone else in a medical emergency.

I've always viewed myself as a humanistic-existential psychologist, believing soundly in each person’s potential for growth and change.

Appointment Days and Hours : Monday through Friday from 10 AM through 7 PM. All appointments start on the hour.

What you can expect from our first session

My hope for clients, even if I get to see them only once, is that they go home with another way of viewing their problem. This alone might help someone get unstuck, enabling them to move forward.
