Great to meet you!
Hello! I'm Karen Myers, LCSW, ACHP-SW. I am a mindfulness-based psychotherapist (dually licensed in North Carolina and Utah) and lifestyle medicine practitioner who loves working with clients who've lost their way a bit and are now struggling with anxiety and depression--and everything else that comes with it.
As a remote telehealth psychotherapist, using a Measurement-Based Care model since 2024, my professional background includes over 25 years experience as a medical social worker and advanced certification as a specialist in palliative care and hospice social work.
Mindfulness (merging the heart and mind) is the awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally. Instead of running from thoughts and feelings that make us uncomfortable, mindfulness invites us to embrace all of it--with a compassionate heart, loving-kindness and empathy-- in the present moment without judgment. We begin by stopping. Then, dropping. Into being. Here, we are introduced to the typically overlooked refuge of deep-listening within ourselves which accompanies it. It sounds easy, but it takes a little practice.
Mindfulness is my superpower...together, let's make it yours!
My specialty areas include: anxiety and depression, stress and burnout, stress management, panic disorders, ADHD, chronic pain, chronic illness, end-of-life supportive services and caregiver support, grief and loss, women's issues and maternal health, personal growth & self-esteem.
In addition to being a Mindfulness-based psychotherapist, I also use Transactional Analysis (PAC Model) and Gestalt Therapy while incorporating the use of guided imagery to help clients coping with residual grief and loss.
