Great to meet you!

Life can get complicated, and sometimes the strategies that once worked no longer feel effective. Whether you're struggling with substance use, anxiety, trauma, depression, stress, or navigating a major life transition, you don't have to figure it out alone.

I'm Kari Black, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I work with adults who are looking for practical support, meaningful change, and a space where they can be honest without fear of judgment. My approach is warm, direct, and collaborative. Together, we'll build on your strengths, develop tools that fit your life, and focus on creating change that feels realistic and sustainable.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy should feel safe, respectful, and useful. My approach is warm, collaborative, and practical, with a focus on understanding what matters most to you, what's helped in the past, and what changes feel achievable right now.

I draw from evidence-based approaches including Motivational Interviewing, CBT, trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and person-centered therapy. Whether you're working through substance use concerns, anxiety, trauma, grief, or life transitions, we'll focus on practical tools and strategies you can use in everyday life.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and talk about what brought you to therapy. We'll explore your current concerns, strengths, goals, and what you hope will be different moving forward.

You can expect a calm, welcoming environment where you feel heard, respected, and supported. My goal is for you to leave sessions with greater clarity, a stronger understanding of yourself, and practical next steps we can take together.
