Great to meet you!

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has a PhD and a Master of Education in Human Sexuality and Gender Identity Development, I believe it is important for all people to have access to a safe and non-judgmental space to discuss who they are, what they want out of life, and steps towards actualizing their goals. For the past 10 years, I worked in a hospital setting where I provided behavioral health care, assessments, care coordination, education, and crisis support to transgender youth ages 5-25 and their families. Shifting from working with a large institution towards offering individual therapy has given me the exciting opportunity to slow down, be intentional, and take time to provide deeper and more comprehensive support that I believe everyone deserves.

My approach to therapy

Everyone has a story. Sometimes the stories we tell about ourselves reflect our positive attributes and our accomplishments. Sometimes the only stories we can think of are when we made mistakes, missed out on opportunities, weren’t the best version of ourselves, or were too emotional. These negative stories sometimes have a habit of playing on replay in our minds... causing us to believe that this is who we will always be, and that our goals are out of reach. When working with me in therapy, I begin by utilizing Narrative Therapy to supportively and nonjudgmentally explore the stories and messages you have about yourself, and then we will explore how these messages may impact your progress towards your identified goals. As our therapeutic connection continues, we will creatively work together using an eclectic mix of therapeutic modalities that are best suited to support you in achieving your goals and re-authoring what you would like your life story to say next.

What you can expect from me

A therapist could be called the best in the world and still not feel like a good fit. This is why our first session will start with introductions where I first share a bit about my professional background, therapy philosophy, and general structure of what to expect with therapy, and then I want to hear about you! We will talk about your story and what goals or hopes you would like to work towards in this supportive space. By the end of this first session we get to decide if this feels like this is a good fit or not for both of us.

Then, if we move forward in our work together, I will collaboratively work with you to explore ways to actualize your goals while also holding space for navigating day to day stressors and personal/identity development that happen along the way.
