Great to meet you!

Hello! My name is Kat Mixen. I have a bachelor's in psychology for Grand Valley State University and a Masters in Social Work from Arizona State University. I am fully licensed and endorsed in Infant Mental Health. I have spent the last 6 years working in Infant Mental Health, which focuses on attachments between a child and caregiver and treatment of children 0-6. This also allowed me to work with expectant mothers. I have also worked with kids up to 18 as well as an internship working with adults.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is focused on creating a safe space where clients feel heard, understood, and accepted. I tailor my approach to each individual and do not believe in therapy as a one-size-fits-all approach. I utilize trauma-informed, relationship-based approach that recognizes the impact our experiences can have on the way we think and feel.

What you can expect from me

I like to create a warm and inviting space where clients can feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and feelings with no judgement. The first session will be used to start building rapport and getting to know each other. I like the environment to remain relaxed and comfortable for you.
