Great to meet you!

I graduated with my Masters of Social Work from BYU in 2013, and have found great fulfillment and joy in providing therapy to all types of people over the past decade. The first several years of my career was spent in rural, community mental health, working with children, adolescents and adults in psychotherapy and substance use treatment.

In 2016 I started working for a non-profit agency providing individual therapy to adults. In the summer of 2023, I made the exciting transition into private practice, offering individual psychotherapy to adults 18 and older throughout the DMV.

My areas of interest and specialty include:

  • Spiritual and religious concerns (faith deconstruction, religious trauma, existential concerns)
  • Depression
  • Anxiety and panic
  • Shame
  • Attachment and relationship issues
  • Grief and loss
  • Trauma

My approach to therapy

I strive to be warm, curious and open in my approach, with the aim of building a trusting relationship that serves as a foundation for deeper emotional work. My approach is informed by psychodynamic theories, meaning that past experiences and relationships, as well as unconscious feelings and beliefs, play a significant role in how we behave and relate to ourselves and the world around us. Bringing these parts into awareness helps you to change those ways of being and relating that were once adaptive but now unhelpful.

I’m actively engaged in the therapeutic process with you. I ask thoughtful questions, offer reflections, and create a space where you can feel both supported and appropriately challenged.

What you can expect from me

In our first several sessions we will discuss what led you to start therapy and what you hope to accomplish. I will likely ask questions about your history and present day concerns. Learning about your strengths and resiliencies will be just as important to me as knowing what you may struggle with or wish to change.
