Great to meet you!

Welcome! I’m Kecia Wright, a licensed professional counselor and the founder of Olive Tree Wellness Center. I am licensed to provide therapeutic services to clients in Maryland, Washington DC, and Georgia.

I specialize in supporting Christian Black, Indigenous, and Women of Color (BIWOC) who are tired of always having to be the "strong one." On the outside, my clients look like high-achievers who have it all together. On the inside, they are exhausted. Many carry the "Mother Wound" from growing up with emotionally distant or critical mothers. Others struggle with people-pleasing, imposter syndrome, and the pressure to be perfect just to feel worthy. If you are burned out from trying to do it all, I am here to help. Together, we will use faith-informed care to replace self-sacrifice with healthy boundaries. You don't have to keep performing to earn love. I am here to walk with you as you take off the mask, find true peace, and reclaim who you really are.

I graduated Magna Cum Laude in both my graduate and undergraduate studies, from Lancaster Bible College and American University. I am currently pursuing a Doctorate of Ministry from United Theological Seminary.

My approach to therapy

I believe that therapy works best when we sit eye-level—as equals—in a safe, non-judgmental space where you can finally take off the "strong woman" mask. My approach is integrative, collaborative, and tailored to meet you right where you are.

We’ll draw on evidence-based tools like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness to help you untangle negative thought loops, process deep emotional wounds, and build practical skills for daily life. For clients who desire it, I offer faith-informed care, framing boundaries not as selfishness, but as holy stewardship over the life God entrusted to you.

Together, we’ll move step-by-step from performing to peace—helping you heal, set healthy boundaries, and build a life aligned with your core values and true purpose.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is designed to be a virtual sanctuary—a safe, quiet space where you don’t have to perform or have all the answers. We’ll begin by getting comfortable, creating a warm and unjudgmental environment where you can speak freely without any pressure to "say the right thing." Together, we will gently begin unpacking what brought you to therapy, explore what you are currently navigating—such as stress, family dynamics, or burnout—and start shedding light on patterns like perfectionism or the pressure to always be the "strong one." Rather than rushing to solve everything at once, we will simply take our first steps together: identifying initial goals tailored to your values and beginning the journey toward building practical skills, setting healthy boundaries, and finding true peace and healing.
