Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Kelly Huggins!

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with 30 years of nursing experience.

Because the world of mental health acronyms can be confusing, I like to be clear about my role: I am a specialized advanced practice nurse, not a traditional talk therapist. My primary focus is on medical and diagnostic care, featuring carefully tailored medication management. However, I firmly believe that medicine is only part of the puzzle. That is why supportive psychotherapy is deeply woven into our sessions together, alongside guidance on lifestyle changes to support your daily wellness. If you ever need deep, ongoing traditional therapy, I am always happy to connect you with trusted therapists to round out your care team.

When I’m not partnering with patients, I love being a mom, a wife, and an avid traveler exploring the world!

My approach to therapy

My approach to care is warm, collaborative, and entirely focused on you. I believe that true healing begins with genuinely listening to your story. Together, we will partner to build a treatment plan that respects where you have been and aligns perfectly with your unique goals for the future.

I work with adults of all ages and hold a special focus on women’s mental health. I practice from a deeply holistic perspective, which means I look at the whole picture of your life—considering how your physical health, emotional experiences, and social connections all impact your well-being.

As a PMHNP, my goal is to empower you with the tools and support you need to thrive. We will explore your path to wellness through:

  • Carefully tailored medication management to help balance your mind and body.
  • Supportive guidance and lifestyle changes that fit into your daily routine.
  • A network of collaborative care. Because my primary focus is medical and diagnostic support rather than traditional talk therapy, I am always happy to connect you with trusted therapists and specialists to ensure you have a complete support team. Wherever you are on your journey, I am here to provide a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental space where you feel completely heard, deeply respected, and ready to heal.

What you can expect from me

During your first session with me, you can expect a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where you are encouraged to share your story at your own pace. Our initial assessment typically lasts 60 to 90 minutes, allowing us to explore your medical and psychiatric history, current concerns, and treatment goals. I aim to understand you as a whole person—your strengths, challenges, and what matters most to you—so we can develop a personalized care plan together. By the end of our first meeting, you’ll have a clear sense of next steps and feel supported as we begin your journey toward better mental health.
