Great to meet you!

If you struggle with destructive eating behaviors, it is very likely that you have a very loud inner critic. Often the goal over the years has been to "stop" this voice, despite the years of this not working very well. I hope to instill curiosity in how this voice became so loud and to build skills to respond to this voice differently. I will guide you to listen to your voice that will move you towards what you want in life, as you learn to welcome all the emotions you experience along the way.

My approach to therapy

I approach therapy with a focus on empowering you and making your compassionate voice louder. When you see your emotions as messengers and not experiences to avoid, we begin to respond to them differently. I have studied the evolution of obesity for over 20 years and the effects of the "dieting mentality". If you do struggle with destructive eating patterns, I will offer you a deeper understanding of the psychology of eating and weight that can support a new path to freedom.

What you can expect from me

My goal is to assist you with self-discovery and understanding how your life has influenced how you see yourself in the world and how you cope with strong emotions. We will end each session with what you believe you are ready to invest your energy into doing. You will learn about several factors that are strongly related to emotional pain and destructive behaviors, such as adverse childhood experiences, people pleasing, intrusive "over" thinking, the shameful inner critic voice and more.
