Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Dr. Kenshara Cravens-Knoxson. I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from Stephen F. Austin State University and my Ph.D. in Social Work from Walden University. My background includes medical social work, mental health services, work with children and families, and higher education. I am also an author who is passionate about helping people navigate challenges and build on their strengths.

I work with children, youth, and adults, focusing on concerns such as stress, grief, emotional regulation, substance use, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. My approach is compassionate and collaborative. I strive to create a supportive space where you feel comfortable sharing your experiences, exploring your needs, and developing practical skills to move toward your goals.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and strengths-based. I take time to understand your experiences, circumstances, and goals, and we work together at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My style combines supportive conversation with practical strategies to help you recognize patterns, manage emotions, strengthen relationships, and navigate everyday challenges.

I work with children, youth, and adults, with a focus on stress, grief, emotional regulation, substance use concerns, and life transitions. I consider how family, culture, health, and environment influence your well-being and tailor our work to your needs. My goal is to help you feel heard while building skills and confidence you can use beyond our sessions.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect a welcoming, respectful space where you can share at your own pace. We’ll discuss what brought you to therapy, your current concerns, and what you hope to gain from our work together. I’ll also explain confidentiality, answer your questions, and learn about your strengths and support system.

Together, we’ll identify initial goals, such as managing stress, understanding emotions, improving relationships, or navigating a life transition. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, with a clearer sense of how we can work together and a manageable next step.
