Great to meet you!

Hey! I am the owner of Iris Counseling, LLC and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 16 years of experience in the field. More specifically in individual, family and group counseling, crisis intervention and suicide prevention, as well as in addiction counseling. While working in this field, I've developed a deep understanding of the complexity of us humans and the vulnerability it takes to ask for help. It's an honor to be in this profession and to be trusted by you as you're in this vulnerable space of personal growth and healing.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is to guide you towards a better understanding of yourself and leads to meaningful change. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the most important element of therapy. When a person feels safe, seen and heard, they can heal. I work from a relational approach and that means that I recognize a part of me is also in the space and we are working together to meet your goals. Sometimes this looks like developing practical coping skills, setting boundaries in relationships, shifting patterns of self-destruction, avoidance driven by fear and finding balance during life transitions. These approaches empower you to focus on personal control rather than external circumstances. I use a framework that helps you shift from "they broke up with me and I'll be alone forever" to "the relationship didn't work out and this is painful for me. Even if it's not romantic, I'm capable of building new and meaningful connections through friends and community."

What you can expect from me

You can expect a non-judgemental, safe space and an opportunity to share your thoughts and feelings about what brought you to therapy. You may be experiencing toxic relationships, conflicts with family and friends, grief and loss, financial problems, health problems, a new job, or something entirely different. We will work together at your own pace to support you in learning to trust in yourself, what you need and how to get there to change your life.

Reach out and connect with me. I look forward to working with you!
