Great to meet you!

Hi there, you can call me Kim! I'm a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in New Hampshire and Massachusetts and I received my Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Boston in 2016 and my Master of Social Work from Simmons University in 2019. I also completed my Certificate in Trauma Practice upon graduation from Simmons! My main focus in my graduate education was trauma treatment across the lifespan with a specialized focus on early-childhood trauma and play therapy interventions. I have 10 years of combined experience working with diverse populations of children and their families in community-based settings, therapeutic school settings, and outpatient settings. I especially enjoy working with LGBTQ+ populations and neurodiverse individuals and families!

My approach to therapy

My style with clients is warm, open, and curious, but also playful and silly when working with kiddos! I want clients to look forward to their sessions even when some topics or activities may feel difficult. For those of you looking for specific interventions, I use a combination of cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and acceptance and commitment therapy practices. For children, I also utilize play therapy practices and attachment-based interventions to support their needs!

What you can expect from me

During our first session, I like to know what makes you you, what brings you to therapy, and if there are any goals you have in mind of your therapeutic journey. I also firmly believe that anyone going into therapy deserves a space where they can feel emotionally safe to share or explore whatever topics feel most important to them, but that it is ultimately on me to provide that environment! When working with clients of any age, I always tell them that we go at their pace and that it is up to me to earn their trust. If something ever feels like it isn't working or feels too fast, let me know and we can work through it as a team!
