Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Kim. I've spent more than 25 years as a social worker, and in that time I've sat with people in some of the hardest moments of their lives: emergency rooms and ICUs, nursing homes, hospice and palliative care, and family homes during long visits where nobody knew what to say next. That work taught me that people are far more resilient than they give themselves credit for, and that having one steady person in your corner makes a real difference.

Outside of work, my family is my favorite place to be, especially now that there are grandchildren in the picture. They have reminded me how much joy lives in ordinary days, which is something I try to help my clients find their way back to.

My approach to therapy

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which means we look closely at the connection between what you think, how you feel, and what you do. When you can catch a thought pattern that's been running the show, you get real choices back. We'll set goals together, practice skills that work in your actual life, and check in on what's helping and what isn't.

I'm warm, but I'm also direct. I'll ask honest questions and offer honest feedback, because I don't think you came to therapy to hear only comfortable things. At the same time, I move at your pace. Nothing gets forced open before you're ready.

My background in medical and end-of-life settings shaped how I see people: as whole lives, not symptom lists. Your health, your family, your finances, your history, and your faith or values all belong in the room if they matter to you.

What you can expect from me

The first session is mostly me listening. I'll ask what brought you here now, what's been hardest lately, and what you'd like to be different. You're welcome to share as much or as little history as feels comfortable, and you don't need to arrive with organized thoughts or the right words. Feeling nervous or unsure where to start is completely normal, and we can begin right there.

I'll also tell you a bit about how I work, answer any questions you have about therapy, and we'll talk about what you're hoping to get out of it. By the end, we'll have a starting point together, along with a sense of what our next few sessions might look like.

Mostly, I want you to leave that first hour feeling heard and a little lighter than when you logged on
