Great to meet you!

My approach

My therapeutic approach varies depending on your needs and preferences (if you have a preference) and includes, but is not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Christian Counseling, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Healing of the Inner Child, Behavioral Therapy, Grief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Humanistic Therapy, Logo Therapy, Mental Game Therapy for Athletes, Grief Therapy, End-of-Life Therapy, and Insight-Oriented Therapy. I believe that regardless of the approach to therapy all therapeutic interventions include three distinct components: A healing/change agent (Therapist), a sufferer (Client), and a therapeutic/healing relationship. My goal is to utilize the therapeutic relationship as a conduit of healing in which a strong, trusting relationship between us provides a safe space for you to explore your deepest thoughts and emotions, allowing you to process pain, gain self-awareness, and ultimately facilitate positive personal growth and healing.

My communication style

As a therapist, my primary interest when communicating with you will be building, nurturing, and maintaining a healthy helping relationship with you. I believe that a therapist's communication style shapes the climate of the client-therapist relationship and has the potential to negatively or positively change the client's experience of the relationship and respective helping process, including the client's progress, how they see themselves, and their potential for change. Through the use of discernment, kindness, active listening, compassion, and unconditional acceptance, I believe that I am able to honestly, effectively, and empathically put my observations into words, thus, better allowing you to integrate new knowledge into an expanded sense of self and self-awareness without feeling shame.

What you can expect from me

My goals for you

My approach to goal setting is one of collaboration with you. What is it that you want to accomplish and why do you want to accomplish it? When a person has a big enough “Why,” he or she is much more likely to find his/her “How.” (“He who has a why to live can bear almost any how” -Friedrich Nietzsche). My ultimate goal for you would be to help you improve your mental and emotional well-being and to lead a more fulfilling life, but again, this journey is about you, not me.

My first session with you

First and foremost, this is your therapy session, meant to help you! In our first visit, we will establish a connection, get to know one another better, begin to explore what you want to accomplish in therapy and begin to determine how I can best help you as dictated by your thoughts, feelings, struggles, etc. My hope is that you will leave feeling accepted, respected, appreciated and hopeful!
