Great to meet you!

The opportunity to serve clients seeking mental and behavioral health treatment is one of my life's greatest gifts. I believe in the strengths of each client, and I believe their pain, challenges, and story. Through relationship-building and a mutual exchange of information as we define and refine goals of treatment, and the use of our agreed-upon tool kit (evidence-based intervention modalities), we will engage with curiosity in a mutual exchange of information, exploring, discovering, learning, and skill building to meet treatment goals. If you know why you are here, I am here for you. If you don’t know exactly why you are here- perhaps a thought, a feeling, or experience lead you here- I am here for you. People are unique, complex, multifaceted, and deserving of care.

My approach to therapy

I so look forward to meeting you and to the day you are ready to say good-bye (even though I might get a bit teary-eyed). My background is community-based outpatient mental health. I provide therapeutic services for short-term solutions focused on long-term chronic mental health conditions with mild to severe periods of acuity. I value partnership and a team-based approach to client treatment. When needs are identified and endorsed by client, I am skilled at advocacy and referrals to expand a client’s support network in areas such as: social services, school-based (including college), peer support networks, psychiatric support (if medication support is desired by client), psychological testing support, and higher level care as needed.

What you can expect from me

I am really glad you are here, and I want to know your story. We will have some standard new relationship items to address to ensure confidentiality, safety, and practice policies. We will engage in guided questions to discuss what prompted you to seek therapy, to understand history, and to explore and set treatment goals. Where agenda-setting for sessions is typically a mutual process, this may appear very structured and there is still great value. My goal is for clients to take away a feeling of support and empowerment from these initial steps.
