Great to meet you!

Welcome! I’m Kristin Petersen, MSW, LICSW, and I’ve been a psychotherapist for over 13 years. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals across the lifespan. My work has taken me through a variety of settings and experiences, allowing me to develop a deep appreciation for the unique stories, strengths, and challenges that each person brings to therapy.

I have extensive experience supporting individuals who are navigating complex issues such as trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and co-occurring diagnoses. My professional background also includes working with diverse cultural groups and people from a wide range of backgrounds, which has strengthened my belief in the importance of understanding each person’s experiences within their own cultural and personal context.

I view each session as an opportunity to help you not only work through difficulties but also reconnect with your own resilience and sense of direction. My goal is for you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and the tools you need to continue growing outside of therapy. This is your journey—my role is to walk alongside you, offering guidance, insight, and support as you move toward greater well-being.

Whether you’re seeking support for the first time or returning to therapy, I strive to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard, valued, and empowered to create the life you want.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative and grounded in authenticity. I believe that healing begins with trust and open communication, and that therapy works best when it’s a partnership. Together, we’ll explore the challenges you’re facing, identify patterns that may be holding you back, and build on your strengths to create meaningful, lasting change. I emphasize honesty, compassion, and a sense of shared purpose in the work we do together.

What you can expect from me

Our first session will focus on getting to know one another and beginning to build a foundation of trust and understanding. You will have the opportunity to share your story, discuss the challenges you are facing, and identify what you hope to achieve in your therapeutic journey.

My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel comfortable being open, honest, and vulnerable. I believe that meaningful progress begins with authenticity and collaboration.
