Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Kumi Pledger, LCPC, and I’m honored you’re considering working with me.

I was born and raised in Japan, and my multicultural background deeply influences the way I connect with clients from all walks of life. I’m also a mom of three, and my experiences navigating parenthood, transitions, and identity enrich the empathy and understanding I bring into the therapy room.

I’ve been a therapist for over 10 years, supporting individuals and families through a wide range of challenges. I am currently accepting new clients and offer Sunday availability to accommodate busy schedules.

My approach to therapy

I offer a warm, collaborative, and culturally informed space where clients can explore their experiences with honesty and without judgment. I believe healing is most powerful when the therapeutic relationship feels safe, genuine, and empowering. My goal is to help you gain clarity, build resilience, and reconnect with your strengths so you can create meaningful change in your life.

If you’re ready to start your healing journey, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.

What you can expect from me

In our first session together, my top priority is helping you feel comfortable, welcomed, and understood. I’ll begin by learning what brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain from our work together. There’s no pressure to share everything at once — we move at your pace, and you only share what feels right for you.

I’ll ask gentle questions to get to know your background, your current challenges, and your strengths. This helps me understand your story and begin forming a personalized plan for our work. We’ll also discuss any goals you may have, whether they’re specific or still taking shape.

Many clients describe the first session as a mix of conversation, reflection, and relief — a chance to finally set things down and be truly heard. I’ll explain how therapy works, answer any questions you have, and make sure you leave feeling supported and hopeful about our next steps.

My goal is to create a safe, culturally sensitive, and nonjudgmental space where you can begin your healing journey with clarity and confidence.
