Great to meet you!

I hold an associate's degree in communications, a bachelor's degree in health science and a master's degree in Community Counseling which I received in 2007. I am credentialed as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) by the North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and also as a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) and Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) by the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board.

My approach to therapy

I began my work with a public mental health agency where I stayed for the first 16 years of my career. This allowed me to become fully versed in working with individuals who struggle with a wide array of challenges. My experience includes providing individual and group sessions to individuals with mental health and/or substance abuse challenges. I have taught groups on DBT, CBT, PTSD, substance abuse, and effective communication skills.

What you can expect from me

My counseling style can be described as warm, humorous and direct. I enjoy positive dialogue with my clients and expect that they will walk away with hope and the ability to feel as though they are in control of their lives.
