Great to meet you!

I'm Lakita Snead, a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Michigan who believes that real healing begins when someone finally feels heard — not just listened to, but truly heard.

I've spent five years working with adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, grief, burnout, relationship tension, and the kind of low self-worth that makes everything harder. I bring warmth, patience, and a genuine curiosity about the person in front of me — not just the problem they came in with.

I'm a Wayne State-trained therapist and I take pride in building a space where you can be completely honest, even about the things that feel hard to say out loud.

My approach to therapy

I believe in seeing the whole you — not just your symptoms or your struggles, but your strengths, your story, and the context that shaped you.

I blend cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with narrative therapy and motivational interviewing, which means we'll work on practical tools you can actually use, while also exploring the bigger story you've been telling yourself — and whether it's still serving you.

I move at your pace. There's no rush to get to the "hard stuff" before you're ready. My job is to walk alongside you, ask good questions, and gently challenge you when the moment calls for it.

What you can expect from me

Expect a conversation — not an interrogation. Your first session is about getting comfortable and helping me understand what's been going on and what you're hoping to change. I'll ask questions, I'll listen carefully, and by the end of our first session, you'll have a clearer sense of what we can work on together.

Most of my clients tell me they leave the first session feeling lighter — not because we've solved anything yet, but because they've finally said the thing out loud to someone who wasn't going to flinch.
