Great to meet you!

My name is Lari Smith, and I’ve spent nearly 15 years helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges and build healthier, more fulfilling lives. I hold multiple graduate‐level degrees, including a Master of Science in Human Resources (2006), a Master’s Certificate in Addiction Counseling (2016), and a Master of Science in Psychological Services (2017). I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Oklahoma and am currently under supervision for my LADC.

Before entering private practice, I worked for the Department of Human Services and later served as a school counselor in rural K–8 schools. These experiences deepened my passion for supporting children, families, and individuals facing complex or overwhelming life circumstances. Today, I work with clients of all ages and have a special appreciation for both children and older adults.

My therapeutic approach is eclectic, but I frequently draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I have experience treating a wide range of concerns, including adjustment disorders, anxiety, depression, child sexual abuse, PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder, and other mental health challenges. I also bring personal insight into chronic pain after experiencing a serious car accident in 2017 that resulted in multiple broken bones.

I currently practice in a rural Oklahoma community and am accepting new clients. I offer virtual sessions and accept insurance, with a full list available through Headway.

Outside of my work as a therapist, I’ve been married for 28 years and have three adult children. I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my four‐month‐old granddaughter—and I love baking.

If you’d like to explore whether we’re a good fit, I offer a free consultation. I’d be honored to support you on your journey—reach out today and let’s get started.

My approach to therapy

I draw on evidence based practices and lived experience with therapy along with complementary modalities tailored to each client’s needs. I build trust quickly, and collaborate with clients to set clear, achievable goals. emphasize safety, practical coping skills, and measurable goals. Having been in therapy myself, I normalize the process and strive to make intake seamless and welcoming. Helping others is my calling, and I aim to make that evident through compassionate, respectful care.

What you can expect from me

My counseling style is laid back, patient, and deeply non‐judgmental. Having been in counseling myself, I understand how vulnerable and awkward those first conversations can feel. I take my time with clients, especially in the initial session, giving them as much space as they need to unpack their mental health history and any trauma they may be carrying. I never end a session when someone is crying or emotionally exposed as their safety and stability come first. I’m straightforward and honest, and when something difficult needs to be said, I approach it with respect, empathy, and a genuine desire to support their growth.
