Great to meet you!

Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years building a life rich with experiences that continue to shape how I connect with others today. As a veteran, husband, father of two, and proud grandfather of six, I've experienced life's challenges, transitions, and joys from many different perspectives.

I earned my master's degree at the age of 45, a decision that reflected my belief that it's never too late to pursue meaningful work or create a new path. Since earning my counseling license in 1996, I've been dedicated to serving my community and helping people navigate difficult seasons with compassion, honesty, and respect.

I believe we're all connected, and that healing often begins when we feel seen, supported, and understood. Whether you're facing a major life transition, emotional struggles, or simply looking for a trusted partner on your journey, my goal is to provide a steady, supportive presence while helping you move toward the life you want to live.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy begins with trust. Before meaningful change can happen, it's important to build a genuine relationship where you feel comfortable being yourself. I take time to get to know my clients, and I don't believe the therapeutic relationship has to feel one-sided. When appropriate, I may share a bit of my own life experiences to help create a space that feels authentic, human, and grounded in mutual respect.

My approach combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with storytelling, practical guidance, and a healthy dose of humor. Sometimes the best insights come through a story, a different perspective, or even a well-timed "grandpa joke." While we may share a few laughs along the way, we'll also do meaningful work together—identifying unhelpful thought patterns, building healthier ways of coping, and creating lasting change.

Above all, I want you to know that you don't have to face life's challenges alone. My role is to walk alongside you with honesty, compassion, and encouragement as you move toward the life you want to create.

What you can expect from me

There's no pressure during our first session. My goal isn't to dive into everything all at once—it's to create a space where you can begin to feel comfortable. I often tell clients to wear whatever makes them feel at ease, and if you'd like to bring a snack or a cup of coffee, that's perfectly fine. I may have one, too.

We'll spend time getting to know one another and exploring what brought you to therapy, but I don't believe every first session has to follow a rigid script. I pay attention to what feels most natural in the moment. Sometimes that means talking about what's weighing on your heart, and other times it means beginning with something as simple as a shared interest, a favorite hobby, or even a conversation about cars. Building trust is the foundation of good therapy, and I believe people open up when they feel safe, respected, and accepted.

By the end of our first session, my hope is that you'll leave feeling heard, comfortable, and confident that you've found someone who will meet you where you are and walk alongside you at a pace that feels right for you.
