Great to meet you!

You have taken an important first step in reaching out to support your emotional well-being. My name is Laura Ellington, LCSW, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North and South Carolina with over 20 years of experience in mental health counseling, integrated care, and hospice.

My approach is collaborative, trauma informed and grounded in your unique needs. Together, we will explore what brought you to counseling, process past and present lived experiences, clarify your personal goals, and develop a plan for moving forward towards meaningful change. You set the direction; my role is to walk alongside you as a supporter, advisor, and advocate.

I use a strengths-based, solution-focused, wellness model of counseling. Learning new coping skills is an essential part of the process, and you’ll find that I am deeply focused on helping you recognize and build upon your existing strengths and abilities. I also encourage creative, “out-of-the-box” thinking as we navigate life transitions, depression, anxiety,

My approach to therapy

I see therapy as a tool to support our growth process throughout life. Self reflection and insight gained in the therapeutic process is a powerful asset in integrating lived experiences into the present, managing phase of life changes and coping with challenging times.

What you can expect from me

Prior to our first meeting, we may have 15 minute introductory, 'meet and greet' consultation at no charge. Our first full session is an opportunity to get to know one another, share your story, identify your strengths and develop a plan to work towards your goals. You are the center of this process as we work towards healing and restoring balance to life.
