Great to meet you!

Hello, I have worked as a Social Worker since 1983 after receiving my undergraduate degree in Social Work. I began my career working with high risk pregnant women in a Regional Perinatal Clinic while I obtained my MSW in 1987 and worked there for a few more years before working with the Family Service Center and Family Advocacy Program at Camp Lejeune and Cherry Point USMC. It was during that time that I became an LCSW. While I worked there, I worked with domestic violence clients and child abuse cases and taught parenting classes then eventually became the Program Manager. Then I decided to start my own private practice and worked with children, adolescents and adults offering individual, group and couple's counseling. My current job is working for the Jupiter Vet Center initially as a Readjustment Counselor and now promoted to the Senior Counselor position. I work with combat veterans and military sexually traumatized clients, couples counseling, as well as bereavement clients. I specialize in working with depression, anxiety , cognitive behavioral therapy, and couples counseling.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate and individualized. Each client is the expert of their own life and my role is to provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their own thoughts, emotions, and experiences. I help clients to identify their strengths, develop practical coping strategies, and create meaningful goals that align with their values. I also integrate evidence based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy while remaining flexible and tailoring treatment to each client's unique needs, culture, and preferences. Above all, I strive to build a trusting therapeutic relationship that empowers clients to make lasting, positive changes.

What you can expect from me

In the first session, clients can expect a welcoming supportive, nonjudgmental environment where they have have the opportunity to share their story at their own pace. my primary focus is on getting to know them, understanding what brings them to therapy, and learning their challenges, goals, and strengths. We also begin to identify treatment goals and what treatment approach may be the best for their needs. I also review confidentiality and explain what the client can expect from therapy. and ensure that they feel heard, respected, and hopeful that we can work together to support their growth and well-being.
