My goal is for you to feel heard and empowered. After the intake/initial session, I focus on skill building as a goal to help you feel like you can take something tangible away from therapy immediately. I also like to focus on collaborative goal setting, so you know we are prioritizing your goals and objectives. We will check-in on how you think therapy is going and if we are staying on track with your goals. Therapy is about you and I want you to get the most out of our work together.
In terms of training, I incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), along with other forms of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy into practice. These interventions are helpful when paired with a somatic approach. The best way to explain this is focusing on both the mind and body and how they communicate (or don't communicate).
Additionally, I am a trauma therapist. I have trained in EMDR and Written Exposure Therapy (WET).
If you are unsure of what modality may be beneficial to you, that is ok! We will discuss during our consultation. Typically, a mixture of treatment modalities is most useful.
