Great to meet you!

Welcome! I’m Laurie and I am a licensed professional counselor in Michigan with 26 years of experience helping clients to examine issues that may be causing unhappiness and pain in their life.

  • About 30 years ago, my twin four-year-old sons were diagnosed with leukemia, and I eventually lost them both. The support I received during that time inspired me to go back to school and become a therapist, and I now specialize in grief and loss.
  • That experience shapes how I show up for clients today. I bring a warm, non-judgmental, collaborative approach, especially for those navigating grief, but also across the full range of life's challenges."

My approach to therapy

Each person is unique and I believe in a non-judgmental, client-centered approach in a counseling relationship in which the client feels comfortable examining factors that may be causing unhappiness and pain in their life. I also believe that individuals have the capability to overcome these factors and work toward happiness. We will explore strengths you already have, what barriers you may encounter along the way, and how we will determine when you have met your goals.

What you can expect from me

  • In our first session, we'll get to know each other and talk through what brought you to therapy. I'll ask questions, but you're always in control of the pace and depth of what we cover.
