Great to meet you!

I have been an educator and a clinician for over 20 years and have had the luxury of loving both of these roles immensely. As a licensed mental health counselor, I have worked with a variety of individuals, but especially enjoy working with those in transition from high school to college and/or young adult life. Additionally, I tend to work with adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, and any life transition matters that are challenging.

My approach to therapy

The educator in me makes me a stronger clinician because just as no person learns the same way, there is no singular clinical approach that works for all clients. I individualize care, helping you identify your goals and the things that are obstacles in achieving them. No individual should be expected to get there the same way. I believe all people have the ability to achieve their goals and I will challenge you and support you as we take the therapeutic journey together. You will be pushed to consider how your thoughts impact your behaviors and how we can work to find better balance in your life.

What you can expect from me

I am not naïve enough to think I am a perfect fit for everyone. In your first session, you really are “interviewing” me and in turn, I am trying to assess whether I am the right person for you. You are in charge, as this is YOUR therapy and your journey. I will ask for you to share some of your story and goals for therapy with me so we can assess together whether we are likely to work well together. I hope to create that safe space for you to feel comfortable in sharing some of the things you have been struggling with or know you want to work on.
