Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Dr. Lisa Merritt, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). I specialize in mental health care for children, adolescents, and adults, and I’m passionate about creating a safe, supportive space where individuals feel heard and respected.

With a background in both clinical leadership and community-based care, I focus on treating the whole person, addressing mental health, substance use, and the social factors that affect well-being. Whether you're seeking support for anxiety, depression, trauma, or life transitions, my goal is to work alongside you to find realistic, compassionate, and evidence-based solutions.

I look forward to supporting you on your path toward healing and growth.

My approach to therapy

My approach to care is person-centered, trauma-informed, and collaborative. I believe that every individual’s experience is unique, and effective treatment begins by creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard and respected. I take time to understand your story, your challenges, strengths, and goals, so we can work together to create a care plan that fits your needs.

I use evidence-based practices to support individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, and substance use. I’m especially focused on addressing how life experiences, social stressors, and health disparities impact mental health. Whether through medication management, supportive therapy, or connecting you to additional resources, my goal is to help you build stability and move toward wellness at your own pace.

Together, we’ll explore what works for you, honoring progress, learning through setbacks, and making adjustments as needed.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where they feel heard, respected, and empowered to take an active role in their care. I work collaboratively with each individual to set meaningful and realistic goals, whether that means improving mood, reducing anxiety, managing cravings, or building healthy routines. My sessions are centered around creating a safe space to explore challenges, develop coping strategies, and better understand the connections between thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and life experiences. Over time, clients often gain greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and confidence in managing their mental health. I strive to help each person move toward healing and stability in a way that feels authentic and sustainable for you.
