Hi, and welcome. My name is LoriAnn and I go by L.A. I am an Licensed Professional Counselor (VA), National Certified Counselor, Approved Clinical Supervisor, and Board Certified Telemental Health Provider with over 25 years experience. I earned a PhD in Counselor Education from NC State University. I am currently completing certification with AASECT as a Certified Sex Therapist. I currently provide individual, couples, family, and group therapy.
My counseling orientation is integrative. I firmly believe in the mind-body-spirit connection and understand that true healing occurs across these three parts of ourselves. I utilize sandtray, art, homework, mindfulness, play, relationship enhancement, and psychoeducation in my sessions. While I work with a variety of clients of all ages, I specialize in helping individuals with chronic and terminal illness, LGBTQIA+, & polyamorous families.
The ultimate goals of self-awareness and self-acceptance are goals that sometimes take a long time to achieve. Some clients need only a few counseling sessions to achieve these goals, while others may require months or even years of counseling. As a client, you are in safe space and in complete control. If counseling is successful, you should feel you are able to face life’s challenges in the future without my support or intervention.
