Lorraine Swenson

I have over thirteen years of community mental health experience with a focus in my later years working with children and youth integrated within pediatric offices. While counseling has been the main focus of my career I decided six years ago to go back to school to become a Certified Surgical Technologist as it was a "bucket list" item of mine to be involved in the healing of people physically using my talents of organization and team work within the operating room setting. I have never lost my passion for helping people emotionally, spiritually and now physically. I am able to integrate my talents through counseling with a broader perspective and knowlege base. My hope is to help people feel safe, share openly and be their best selves through guidance, finding solutions and healing.

My approach tends to be ecclectic, using CBT, DBT skills and Solution focussed counseling within a safe and comfortable, yet challenging, environment to engage and help one to move towards healing and thriving.

First sessions tend to be about building rapport through the use of questions, hearing your concerns and symptoms then finding at least one solution to help between sessions.
