Great to meet you!

My journey to mental healthcare

I have had three careers! I was a fashion designer who hung out with creatives and traveled the world, my second career was a stay-at-home mom, and I did all the stuff, like handmake Halloween costumes and drive a big red suburban filled with sports equipment and activities! My children are adults now, and along the way, one of them was neurodivergent; that was a big life changer, and I became an advocate for families at that time. In addition, 9/11 happened, and it totally revamped my psyche and dreams to want to be of service for the rest of my life in the best way I could. I can't believe I wasn't a therapist from the start, as I am full of energy and joy every day when I get ready to begin the day as your therapist. Everyone has such a fascinating journey and dreams, and I can't wait to get to know about you and yours!

My approach to therapy

I am a great match with unique individuals, creatives, autistic and other neurodivergent folk! I am affirming and provide education about navigating life with a different perspective. I work with all genders and issues such as transitions in life, depression, anxiety, grief, repairing dysfunctional family injuries, premarital strengthening, and how to have a healthy, amazing relationship. I can help with codependency, healthy boundaries, and self-esteem building! I have many wonderful clients who are transitioning or post-transition and understand the unique stressors that trans persons are faced with. More than ever, I am supporting all of my clients who are adapting to a rapidly changing political landscape, which can be very concerning and stressful. I am focused on supporting persons of color and other groups that are maligned with emotional support and compassionate understanding. I have years of PhD work under my belt as an eco-therapist or "nature therapist" and can support clients who are also struggling with environmental grief and related to the loss of the planet's health and sustainability.

My communication style

I am a good match for many types of people, but I am especially good with people who are ready to be healthy and grow! I am very collaborative and rely on science (not fads or pop psychology). I want to inform you with really reliable and actionable information to truly enrich and empower you! I am able to meet very smart and clever types toe to toe, as well as creatives and people who consider themselves "outsiders" or different. I have a gentle voice, and I am also ready to listen for as long as you need to be a space for you to cry as much as you need, laugh, and brainstorm solutions depending on where you are at that day.

What you can expect from me

I love meeting new people, so we would be reviewing your intake together thoroughly! I really want to know not only your concerns and issues, but who you are as a person, as well as your cultural influences, and what's worked before for you in therapy and what has not.

My goals for you

I listen carefully when we meet, as to what you imagine would be a desirable outcome, and we plan together what to do. I let you know what methods are available and let you decide which you'd like to try! I am very transparent at informing you of what I see, and think would be helpful as we go along, as many goals are not revealed until we have met many times, and you gain clarity and a sense of safety to be willing to risk change.
