Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Mae Winters, a Licensed Professional Counselor providing telehealth therapy to adults and couples in Virginia, Maine, Connecticut, and Vermont. I help clients navigate anxiety, relationship challenges, life transitions, trauma, grief, and self-esteem concerns. My approach is warm, practical, and personalized, combining evidence-based techniques with genuine support to help you create meaningful and lasting change. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready for a new chapter, I'm here to help you move forward with confidence.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy should be tailored to the individual, not a one-size-fits-all approach. My style is warm, supportive, and collaborative, and I work closely with clients to understand their unique experiences, strengths, and goals. I draw from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, attachment-focused work, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, adapting treatment to fit each client's needs. Together, we'll build practical tools, gain deeper insight, and create meaningful change that supports the life you want to live.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a strong therapeutic relationship. We'll discuss what brings you to therapy, explore your current challenges, and identify the goals you would like to work toward. I strive to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you can feel comfortable sharing at your own pace. By the end of our session, you'll have a clearer understanding of how we can work together and what the next steps in your therapy journey may look like.
