Great to meet you!

I am Dr. Marcia Johnson, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience in mental health care. My background includes work in hospitals, outpatient programs, crisis stabilization, higher education, and private practice. I hold a Ph.D. in Medical & Urban Sociology and an MSW in Mental Health from Howard University.

I specialize in helping clients manage trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and substance use disorders, including co‐occurring conditions. I also welcome clients who wish to integrate their Christian faith and spirituality into therapy, as I believe healing involves the mind, body, and spirit.

My approach to therapy

My approach is trauma‐informed, culturally responsive, and holistic. I believe healing requires attention to the mind, body, and spirit. I integrate evidence‐based methods such as CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and trauma‐focused therapy, while also honoring each client’s lived experience, cultural identity, and spiritual strengths.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, I will focus on understanding who you are, the challenges you face, and what you hope to accomplish.

I will take time to listen carefully to your story, your concerns, your history, and the goals you want to achieve. Together, we will explore how trauma, mental health, or substance use may be affecting your life, while also considering how cultural, spiritual, and environmental factors shape your stability and overall wellness.

You can expect a safe, welcoming, and non‐judgmental space where you are respected, supported, and empowered. By the end of our session, you will leave with a clear plan forward and the confidence that you do not have to face this journey alone.
