I'm Maria Elliott, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Livonia, Michigan. I specialize in helping people with managing and processing anxiety, depression, grief, anger, self-esteem, trauma, and social relationships. I work with children, adolescents, and adults, over telehealth, and I'd love to be part of your journey toward feeling more like yourself again.
My approach blends a few evidence-based methods, tailored to what you need. I often draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help you notice and shift unhelpful thought patterns, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to build a healthier relationship with difficult emotions. For couples and families, I use Structural and Bowen Family Systems approaches to understand how your relationships shape the way you feel. I also bring in Solution Focused and Motivational Interviewing techniques when you want practical, goal-oriented support, and Psychodynamic or Gestalt work when it is more helpful to explore patterns rooted in your past or current experience. Together, we will figure out what mix works best for you.
In our first session, we will talk through what brought you to therapy and what you are hoping will feel different. I will ask about your history and your relationships so I can understand the full picture, not just the symptoms. By the end, you will have a clear sense of where we are headed, and you will feel truly heard.
