Great to meet you!

My name is Martha, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Life Coach with a passion for helping individuals navigate life's challenges with clarity and confidence. With a background that includes two master's degrees, I bring both clinical and practical, real-world insight into the work I do with clients.

With over 20 years of experience, I have had the privilege of working with a wide range of individuals, couples, and families. My experience spans various settings, such as hospitals, counseling agencies, insurance, court involvement, and private agencies. I have supported clients through both everyday struggles and more complex life situations.

I specialize in helping clients who are working through:

Depression and low mood;

Anxiety and chronic worry;

Feelings of being overwhelmed or emotionally exhausted;

Family challenges and life transitions;

Relationship issues, including communication and trust concerns;

Borderline Personality patterns, including emotional intensity and relationship instability;

And more.

My approach to therapy

My approach is compassionate, practical, and collaborative. I strive to create a safe space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported while also being challenged to grow stronger in your goals. Together, we work to identify unhelpful thought patterns, strengthen emotional regulation, and build healthier relationships - with yourself and others.

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and have been trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

Whether you are feeling stuck, struggling to cope, or simply looking for greater direction and peace in our life, you don't have to navigate it alone.

What you can expect from me

Starting counseling can feel like a big step, and it’s normal to feel a mix of emotions—curiosity, nervousness, or even uncertainty. My goal in our first session is to create a space where you feel comfortable, respected, and heard.

During this initial meeting, we’ll begin by getting to know each other. I’ll ask some questions about what brings you in, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you would like help with. This might include discussing things like stress, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, or feeling overwhelmed.

We’ll also review some background information, such as:

  • Your personal and family history (as much as you feel comfortable sharing)
  • Current challenges or stressors
  • Any past counseling experiences
  • Your goals for therapy

You are always in control of what you share—there’s no pressure to go deeper than you’re ready for.

I’ll also take time to explain how counseling works, including confidentiality, how sessions are structured, and how we’ll work together moving forward. This is a great time for you to ask any questions and make sure you feel comfortable with the process.

By the end of the session, we will begin identifying a direction for your care—what you want to work on, what progress might look like, and how I can best support you.

Most importantly, the first session is about building trust. You don’t have to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say—just showing up is a meaningful first step.
