Great to meet you!

I'm Mary Jo Carafelli, a Licensed Professional Counselor in New Mexico with over sixteen years of experience working in agency and community settings. I have spent most of my career working alongside adolescents and their families through some of the most complex seasons of their lives. I have watched kids grow from middle school to adulthood, sometimes over many years of work together. That kind of long-term therapeutic relationship is what I do best.

My practice is in-person and telehealth, serving clients in Santa Fe and throughout New Mexico. I bring a warm, team-oriented approach to every session. Counseling is my calling. I have been doing this long enough to say that with confidence.

I look forward to seeing if we are a good fit.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative and relational. I believe in meeting people where they are and building the kind of trust that allows real, lasting work to happen over time. I have spent my career in agency and community settings, which means I have worked with adolescents and families navigating everything from everyday stress and grief to trauma and behavioral challenges.

I bring warmth, practical guidance, and earned experience to every session. My goal is not just to help you through a difficult moment. It is to walk alongside you for as long as you need.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is a chance to get to know each other. I want to hear what is going on in your life, what brought you to therapy, and what you are hoping we can work toward together. You do not have to have everything figured out before we meet.

The first step is simply showing up. I look forward to hearing from you.
