Dr. Matthew Lotz

As a psychiatrist, I am an expert in the full spectrum of mental health care treatment, including psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. Our work together will draw upon one or both of these tools.

I am an expert in treating anxiety disorders, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, trauma disorders, and substance use disorders.

I enjoy working with young adults, parents, retirees, athletes, professionals and leaders. I also commonly work with patients that have other comorbid medical problems, such as cancer, or a neurodegenerative disease.

I am a Baltimore-native and graduate of Davidson College, University of Maryland School of Medicine, and the Psychiatry residency at University of Maryland and Sheppard Pratt. I also served as a chief resident at Sheppard Pratt. During residency, I also completed the Psychoanalytic Fellowship Program at the WBCP. I currently teach both medical students and residents.

I utilize psychotherapy and psychopharmacology to give my patients comprehensive care. I am judicious with medications, and will always work with you toward your personal goals. Generally, my therapy approach is primarily psychodynamic, but integrates several frameworks.

In our first session, I will do a thorough review of your background and evaluate any problems you identify. I will also review your goals for treatment and how I can help you meet them. If I find that I am unable to help you for some reason, I will provide you with a referral.
