Great to meet you!

Maybe you've had enough of feeling bad and you're ready to do something about it. I'm a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), and I've been a counselor since 1990. I started in rehabilitation counseling for people with brain injuries, saw how little mental health support they had, and went back to school to provide it. Since then, I've worked in schools, jails, methadone treatment, and employee assistance programs. Today, my practice focuses on individuals, teens, and families facing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, anger, and substance use.

My approach to therapy

My approach is person-centered and practical. I draw on CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Seeking Safety, and structural family therapy. With CBT, for example, we look at how your thinking shapes what you do.

I believe a strong working relationship is the foundation of good therapy, and that real progress comes from the effort we put in together. I use a lot of humor, and I'll be honest with you even when it's hard to hear. The truth will set you free, but not before it pisses you off.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, I'll ask what you want to get out of therapy and what you need from a therapist. Then we'll build a plan around your goals. Nobody has to be perfect to start, so reach out when you're ready.
