Great to meet you!

I am Dr. Maya Pittman, EdD, LCMHCS, NCC, Founder and Clinical Director of Amethyst Counseling Services, where I provide virtual psychotherapy to adults across North Carolina. I earned my bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The George Washington University, and a Doctor of Education (EdD) from Liberty University, reflecting my commitment to clinical excellence and lifelong learning.

I believe therapy is a collaborative process that creates space for healing, self-discovery, and meaningful growth. My approach is warm, authentic, and evidence-based, providing a supportive environment where clients feel heard, challenged, and empowered to navigate life's complexities with greater confidence and clarity.

I specialize in working with adults experiencing anxiety, stress, life transitions, self-doubt, perfectionism, and imposter syndrome. I also have a passion for maternal mental health, supporting women through fertility journeys, pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, motherhood, identity shifts, and the emotional demands of balancing multiple life roles. Whether you are navigating a season of uncertainty or striving to become the healthiest version of yourself, I am committed to helping you build resilience and create lasting change.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, real, and collaborative. I blend mindfulness, psychodynamic, solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) techniques to help you understand your emotions, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and build the tools to move forward. Therapy with me isn’t just about talking,it’s about learning how to live fully, process emotions effectively, and step into a version of yourself that feels aligned and empowered.

I don’t believe in quick fixes or toxic positivity. Instead, I believe in giving yourself permission to feel, process, and heal without judgment. You don’t have to do this alone.

What you can expect from me

• Clarity on what’s holding you back and how to move forward

• Practical tools to manage anxiety, stress, and self-doubt

• A safe space to process emotions without feeling judged

• A stronger sense of self and confidence in your ability to navigate life’s challenges

Therapy is about more than just coping—it’s about real transformation. If you’re ready to start your journey, let’s talk.
