Great to meet you!

Maya Sol is a Xicana activist, dancer, educator, and Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). She is the Founder and CEO of MAYAMOTION Healing (MMH), a multilingual, woman-owned practice rooted in culture, spirituality, and community. As a first-generation mujer from a mixed-immigration-status family, she works to expand culturally grounded mental health access for Spanish-speaking and immigrant communities in Boulder County. Maya Sol holds an LCSW from the University of Denver, teaches graduate courses at Smith College, and founded the Annual Cumbre de Jóvenes in 2006. She is trained in AcuDetox and Natural Medicine Facilitation (psilocybin). She nurtures her own healing through Aztec|Toltec dance, song, and community.

My approach to therapy

Maya Sol’s approach to therapy is grounded in liberation psychology, decolonial healing, and a holistic health model that honors the whole person: mind, body, spirit, and community. She draws on each person’s strengths, hopes, and cultural roots, while naming how systems of power, migration, and intergenerational trauma shape our wellbeing. Working bilingually in English and Spanish, Maya Sol weaves psychotherapy together with somatic practices, art, dance, and traditional healing ways such as Círculo and Palabra. Her work is also informed by her training in AcuDetox and Natural Medicine Facilitation. For Maya Sol, healing is both personal and collective, a path toward resilience, belonging, and liberation.

What you can expect from me

Coming to therapy for the first time takes courage, and I honor you for being here. Our first session is really about relationship: getting to know each other, building trust, and seeing how it feels to be in this space together.

I’ll want to hear about you, and not only what brings you in. I’m curious about who you are, where you come from, the people and places that hold you, and the strengths that have carried you this far. You can share as much or as little as feels right. There’s no right way to begin, and we’ll move at your pace.

I’ll share a bit about myself and how I work, too. Healing happens in relationship, and you deserve to know who you’re walking alongside. You’re welcome to speak in English, Spanish, or both, and to bring your whole self: your culture, your spirit, your questions, and your doubts.

By the end, I hope you’ll feel a little more seen, and that together we’ll have a sense of whether this is a good fit. Wherever you are in your journey, you don’t have to walk it alone.
