Meatria Tyson is a licensed (LCPC) with over ten years of experience helping individuals, couples and families navigate life’s challenges. Specializing in depression, anxiety, trauma, relationships, Ms. Tyson provides a compassionate, evidence-based approach to therapy.

With a background, Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and a Master’s Degree in Human Services from Coppin State University, I have integrated techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing Rational Emotional Behavior Therapy (EBT) and Behavioral Modification to create personalized treatment plans. Ms. Tyson believes in fostering a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel empowered to explore their thoughts and emotions.

In addition to private practice, Ms. Tyson has served as an Executive Director for 18 years and am currently a Licensed Professional Clinical Therapist (Supervisor) at Renewed Minds Therapeutic Services. Passionate about mental wellness, Ms. Tyson also engages in advocacy, workshops and consulting grassroots organizations with building mental health practices.

Outside of therapy, I enjoy traveling, reading and meditation which helps bring balance to my personal life.

My approach to therapy

I provide a client-centered approach to therapy. I utilize evidenced-based practices such as CBT, REBT and Behavioral Modification.

What you can expect from me

Clients can generally expect to feel a sense of reflection with a clear understanding of key points discussed, potential homework assignments to work on and a positive affirmation of the progress made doing the session. Often including a brief summary about key takeaways and next-steps before concluding the session.
