Great to meet you!

Hey there, I'm Megan! I'm an LCSW licensed to practice in NC and VA. I received my MSW from UNC Chapel Hill in 2008, and a BA in Sociology from UNC-Asheville in 2004. I have worked in hospitals, hospice, adoption social work, and in mental health over the course of my career. I specialize in working with people with anxiety, depression, those experiencing grief, caregiver stress, and infertility. I primarily work with adults ages 18 and up, but am open to working with children ages 6 and up on grief-specific needs. I am open-minded, open-hearted, and here to help you feel better.

My approach to therapy

Choosing to seek therapy is both an act of strength and an expression of vulnerability. I am honored each time a client chooses me to walk alongside them as they work through the thoughts, feelings, and challenges holding them back.

With many years of experience working with people in healthcare settings—particularly in hospice, grief, chronic illness, caregiving, infertility, adoption, and pregnancy loss—I am committed to supporting people through some of life’s most overwhelming seasons.

Despite the heaviness of the subjects I specialize in, I don't want therapy to feel like an added weight around your shoulders. While there are certainty moments that we sit in difficult, heavy feelings, I also strive to create an environment where laughter, joy, and your inner resilience shine through.

At times, it may feel impossible to believe that things will ever get better, but my job is to help you recognize your own inner strength and discover your infinite capacity for growth, hope, and healing.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, we’ll get to know each other and make sure we’re a good fit. I want you to ask any questions that help you feel comfortable opening up to me. We’ll go over some background information to help me better understand your support system and history, talk about what has brought you to therapy, and explore what you hope to accomplish in our work. Together, we’ll use your questions, concerns, and goals to create a personalized treatment plan that will guide our sessions moving forward and support your path to wellness.
